Selections to begin for new support squadron commanders

  • Published
Development Team members will meet at the Air Force Personnel Center here during various dates from May through August to select new support squadron commanders, officials said today.

Support squadron commanders will be selected in various career fields, including materiel, civil engineering, communications information, mission support, services, security forces, comptroller, contracting, logistics readiness, maintenance, recruiting and training. Non-rated operations such as Vigilant Eagle, weather and intelligence, medical and chaplain candidates are selected in separate announcements.

Selections for the Air Force commanding positions at the U.S. Air Force Academy are handled separately through the Air Force Development Education Designation Board.

Officers desiring to compete must be nominated by their senior raters and will be considered worldwide-eligible in calendar year 2009 for command opportunities identified on their statements of intent. Officers must be released by their AFPC assignment team to be considered for squadron commander positions outside their core Air Force specialty code.

All eligible mission support officers also must submit an SOI. For rated and non-rated operations officers, a statement of intent must be submitted to compete for recruiting and training opportunities.

It is mandatory for those with Airman Development Plan access to complete the SOI via the ADP, which can be found at the following Web site: http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/ and then click through the "secure apps" tab. Once completed, the SOI must be routed through the candidate's senior rater and then forwarded to AFPC.

Those who cannot access the ADP may submit the word document SOI found on the Web site. The SOI must arrive at AFPC by April 26.

The AFSC Web site contains the message, the statement of intent, schedule and important milestone dates.
