Council co-chairmen send holiday message to retirees

The following is a holiday message from Air Force Retiree Council Co-Chairmen retired Lt. Gen. Donald L. Peterson and retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Gerald R. Murray:

As another year draws to a close, and our friends and family gather to celebrate during this holiday season, we offer season's greetings and best wishes to our extended family: the Air Force retiree community.

Our nation's thoughts, prayers and support go out to Airmen currently serving around the globe who are fighting the war on terrorism. These Airmen are following in our footsteps and taking the path we forged for them throughout the past 60-plus years. We have all been on the receiving end of a grateful nation.

Just as we can relate to the service, dedication and commitment of Airmen serving today, we also can recall the feelings that come with being far from home, especially at this time of year. It is this sharing of emotions and experiences that make us family -- an extended family who will always share a special bond.

We wish you, and your family, a joyful holiday season and hope that 2008 is a wonderful, safe and peaceful new year.
