U.S. partners with Australia on new communications satellites
Bruce Lemkin (right), deputy undersecretary of the Air Force for international affairs, and Mark Reynolds, Royal Australian Air Force Counsellor Defence Material, sign a memorandum of agreement at the Australian Embassy in Washington D.C. Nov. 14 that will provide both nations assured access to the new wideband global satellite system. The new six-satellite system is the next generation in communications satellites and is better able to handle bandwidth-intensive applications such as video streaming, teleconferencing, real-time data transmission, and high-resolution imaging.
