Officials select 14 Airmen for physician assistant training

Air Force officials selected 14 Airmen to attend the Tri-Service (Phase I) Physician Assistant Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

The September 2007 Physician Assistant Board met at the Air Force Personnel Center here to consider 47 applicants. In addition to those selected to attend training, the board selected four alternates.

Those Airmen attending training in May are:
    Master Sgt. Jeffrey R. Herchler, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. 
    Tech. Sgt. Rene C. Barajas, Hickam AFB, Hawaii
    Tech. Sgt. Iveth A. Galvez-Guzman, Randolph AFB, Texas 
    Staff Sgt. Michael A. Shaw, Robins AFB, Ga. 
    Staff Sgt. Nathan V. Stafford, Keesler AFB, Miss. 
    Staff Sgt. Jessica M. Wilson, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. 

Those attending in August are:
     Staff Sgt. Deborah E. Cruz, Patrick AFB, Colo.
     Staff Sgt. Brandon L. Mondfrans, McChord AFB, Wash. 
     Staff Sgt. Mark J. Ramirez, Little Rock AFB, Ark. 
     Staff Sgt. Kimberly M. Ranieri, Little Rock AFB 
     Staff Sgt. Madelyn F. Waychoff, Bolling AFB, D.C. 
     Senior Airman Cary L. Mueller, Offutt AFB, Neb. 
     Senior Airman James G. Stoufflet Jr., Lackland AFB, Texas 
     Airman 1st Class Warren L. Stevens, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska 

The average selectee was 28 years, 4 months old with 8.5 years time in service, a Scholastic Aptitude Test composite score of 1,707 and a 3.49 grade point average.

Airmen who successfully complete Phase I and II courses for the physician assistant program will be commissioned as first lieutenants.
