'Today's Air Force' features historic sound barrier coverage Published Oct. 15, 2007 SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) -- This week's edition of "Today's Air Force" highlights the CV-22 Osprey and a propulsion shop at Hill AFB maintaining the F-16 aircraft. Also featured is the 60th anniversary of the breaking of the sound barrier on Oct. 14, 1947, including the original news release of Chuck Yeager's amazing feat.
