Pacific Airlift Rally commences Published Aug. 21, 2007 HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii (AFPN) -- Pacific Airlift Rally 2007, co-hosted by the U.S. and Indonesian air forces, began Aug. 20 and runs through Aug. 24 at Halim Air Base, Jakarta, Indonesia. Pacific Airlift Rally is a Pacific Air Forces-sponsored military airlift symposium and live-flying exercise for nations of the Pacific Rim. The symposium is conducted every two years. Pacific Airlift Rally includes informational seminars, a command post exercise, or CPX, focusing on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and a concurrent field training exercise, or FTX, that builds upon the CPX scenario. CPX participants include: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, United States and Vietnam. FTX participation includes: one C-130 from the Royal Malaysian Air Force; one C-130 from the Indonesian Air Force; one AN-32 from the Bangladesh Air Force; one U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III from the 15th Airlift Wing at Hickam; and two U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft from the 374th Airlift Wing at Yokota Air Base, Japan. Pacific Airlift Rally enhances military airlift interoperability, while focusing on regional humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and builds partnerships between nations in the Pacific region. As part of the scenario, FTX participants operate as a partnership of Pacific Rim nations formed to conduct a humanitarian airlift mission to provide relief to devastated Java after the area has sustained major damage due to an earthquake.
