Luke Airmen assist in roll-over rescue

Two Luke Air Force Base sergeants were identified as instrumental in rescue efforts after four local youths found themselves in an overturned truck in a wash near the Phoenix International Raceway July 26.

Working in their off-duty time at the Phoenix International Raceway, Tech. Sgt. James Orsund and Staff Sgt. Christopher Anderson, both ammunitions specialists at the base, witnessed the truck, driven by a 17 year old, overturned with siblings ages 14, 4 and 2 inside.

According to Phoenix-area media reports, storms flooded the area near Indian Springs and El Mirage roads earlier in the day, and the 17 year old drove his siblings to see the water when trouble struck around 5:30 p.m.
