Newest 'Week in Photos' features Airmen around the globe

The "Week In Photos" Web feature on Air Force Link provides visitors with photos that highlight Air Force missions around the world.

Challenging himself, Staff Sgt. Matthew Zimmer pumps out as many push-ups as he can during the physical fitness portion of the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Challenge at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. The participants in the challenge include SERE specialists, combat rescue officers and pararescuemen from around the Air Force.

Iraqi children near the city of Lutafiyah, Iraq, watch as coalition forces conduct a search. Children come out of their homes to watch military members as they patrol the streets of their village. Lutafiyah is located in the southern sector of Baghdad.

Airmen wearing physical training gear and their weapons make their way across Camp Cunningham June 17 at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Carrying a weapon everywhere an Airman goes is a way of life in a war zone.

Orville Desjarlais, a writer for Airman Magazine, looks over the granite inscription wall during his first visit to the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Va. The memorial's three soaring spires, reflected in the wall, represent the flying spirit of the Air Force.
