Career-enlisted aviator positions open

  • Published
Opportunities are available for Airmen who wish to become career-enlisted aviators.

The Air Force has openings for first-term Airmen to retrain into the flight engineer, flight attendant and aerial gunner specialties.

In addition to the first-term Airman openings, staff and technical sergeants may retrain under the NCO Retraining Program into boom operator, flight engineer, loadmaster, airborne mission systems, aerial gunner and cryptologic linguist career fields.

The official release of the fiscal 2008 NCO Retraining Program objectives will be available in the retraining advisory located in the Virtual Military Personnel Flight within the next few weeks.

"This will be great news for a lot of Airmen," said Master Sgt. Bill Bergin, the career enlisted adviser in-service recruiter at the Pentagon. "I have spoken to many second-term (and) career Airmen who missed their opportunity to retrain during their first enlistment. Since they have re-enlisted, they now have a new opportunity as second-term Airmen to fill critical Air Force needs as career enlisted aviators."

Interested Airmen can contact their orderly room for more information, or call Sergeant Bergin at DSN 227-1717 or (703) 697-1717. To view the retraining advisory, please log into the vMPF and click on the request retraining link.  The retraining tutorial and job description slides may be viewed at: https://afkm.wpafb.af.mil/cea.
