Expeditionary wing memorializes fallen Airman

Co-workers and friends honored a fallen Reservist Airman's life and military service during a memorial ceremony here June 16. 

Lt. Col. Glade L. Felix, the 379th Expeditionary Medical Group physical therapist, died of apparent natural causes here June 11. 

Colonel Felix, 52, stationed at the 622nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., provided rehabilitative services to injured Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines while deployed here in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom as well as the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. 

The Lake Park, Ga., native was described as mission-focused, enthusiastic and one of the most popular medical providers at the wing. 

"Lt. Col. Felix was a vital part of our team at the 379th AEW. Any time we lose an Airman it is a tremendous loss for the family and the entire Air Force," said Brig. Gen. Charlie Lyon, the 379th AEW commander. "Lt. Col. Felix answered his nation's call and served with distinction -- he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family." 

The 379th AEW is comprised of 8,000 Airmen from the National Guard, Reserves, active duty and coalition forces supporting more than 100 combat and combat support aircraft for operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa.
