At Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq, Staff Sgt. Anthony Chambers checks a solar-powered security system near the perimeter. Sergeant Chambers is deployed to the 506th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron.

Also in Iraq, Capt. Bryan Spence pre-flights his F-16 Fighting Falcon at Balad AB, before a combat mission. Assigned to the 14th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, he is deployed from the 14th Fighter Squadron at Misawa Air Base, Japan.

While practicing wartime skills in a weeklong exercise, Airmen jump from a C-130 Hercules during an airdrop in support of Operation Hydra. The exercise tests the 615th Contingency Response Wing's ability to conduct expeditionary mobility operations at three locations. The 615th CRW is located at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.
