The Air Force's premiere entertainment group Tops in Blue sang and danced for the Sacramento community as part of Air Force Week during a June 5 performance at the Radisson Hotel here.

The performance was one of several events the group will do throughout the local area as part of Air Force Week.

The show, called "Flyby," takes the audience on a musical journey of the Air Force from 1947 to the present. A journey, the group hopes, that will not only entertain, but inform.

"This is an opportunity for Tops in Blue to help promote the Air Force in the local community to make sure people understand the Air Force and what its young people do," said Jeri White, production director for Tops in Blue. "And that's something we think is important."

Several portions of the show revolve around the theme of freedom and remind audience members that there are Airmen deployed around the globe in defense of it.

"As we celebrate tonight with Tops in Blue, we must remember that we are a nation at war," said Lt. Gen. Arthur J. Lichte, Air Force assistant vice chief of staff. "We must keep these men and women in our thoughts and prayers and remember that air power will prevail."

"The show was just terrific," said Mary Hopp from Sacramento. "I thoroughly enjoyed it."
Tops in Blue is holding several other performances during Air Force Week, including a June 6 concert in Marysville, Calif. Other events throughout the week include an open house at Beale Air Force Base and the Capitol Air Show featuring the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds.

Air Force Week runs through June 10. For more information, visit the event's official Web site at www.beale.af.mil/airforceweek.
