Officials announce 2006 command post awards

WASHINGTON (AFPN) --  Air Force officials have announced the winners of the 2006 command post annual awards.

They are:

-- Unit-Level Command Post Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Jonathan V. Taylor, 573rd Global Support Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

-- Unit-Level Command Post NCO of the Year: Staff Sgt. Brett C. Guzman, 703rd Munitions Support Squadron Command Post, Volkel Air Base, The Netherlands

-- Unit-Level Command Post Senior NCO of the Year: Master Sgt. Vincent L. Burrell, 374th Airlift Wing Command Post, Yokota AB, Japan

-- Headquarters Command Post Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Destiny D. Williams, Air Force Space Command Headquarters, Peterson AFB, Colo.

-- Headquarters Command Post NCO of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Erika L. Shay, Air Combat Command Headquarters, Langley AFB, Va.

-- Headquarters Command Post Senior NCO of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Kimberly J. Atkins, Air Mobility Command Headquarters, Scott AFB, Ill.

-- Command Post Instructor of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Ray E. Carter, Headquarters Air Force, Mobility Operations Squadron, Detachment 1

-- Small Unit Command Post of the Year: 703rd MUNSS Command Post, Volkel AB, The Netherlands

-- Large Unit Command Post of the Year: 97th AMW Command Post, Altus AFB, Okla.

-- Headquarters Command and Control Element of the Year: Headquarters PACAF Command Center, Hickam AFB, Hawaii.

A total of 90 nominees competed for the 10 awards.

"The award packages were strong, and the level of competition was tough," said Chief Master Sgt. Benjamin Brewer, Air Force Command Post career field manager and president of the selection board. "All award nominees were of the highest caliber and should be commended for their outstanding accomplishments and achievements."

Per AFI 36-2805, Special Trophies and Awards, the individual award recipients will be authorized to wear the Air Force recognition ribbon.
