Couple convicted of numerous UCMJ charges

An Air Force couple were convicted of numerous charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, including the use of cocaine, in separate general courts-martial at Maxwell Air Force Base April 24 and 25.

Airman 1st Class Joshua Young of the 754th Electronic Systems Group was convicted of wrongfully using cocaine and heroin, writing bad checks and being absent without leave. Young was sentenced to six months confinement, a bad-conduct discharge, forfeiture of $850 each month for six months, and reduction to E-1.

Young's wife, Airman Meghan Higgins of the Air University's College of Enlisted Professional Military Education was similarly convicted of wrongfully using cocaine, writing bad checks and disobeying the orders of her commander. Higgins was sentenced to six months confinement, a bad-conduct discharge, forfeiture of $810 each month for four months, and a reduction to E-1.
