Baseball: BYU beats Air Force, 11-2 Published April 28, 2007 By Nick Arseniak U.S. Air Force Academy Assistant Athletic Media Relations Director PROVO, Utah (AFNEWS) -- Brigham Young University beat Air Force 11-2 in a Mountain West Conference baseball game April 28. The loss drops the Falcons to 7-36, 0-17 and improves the Cougars to 25-16, 10-5. Air Force led 1-0 headed into the third inning, but BYU scored 11 unanswered runs over the next three innings. The Falcons put up another run in the eighth inning. Cougar starter Jesse Craig, 7-2, held the Falcons to one run on eight hits in six innings pitched. Air Force starter Jake Petro, 3-8, took the loss, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in four-and one-third innings. The Falcons had 10 hits in the game. Karl Bolt, Addison Gentry and Josh Meents had two hits apiece for the Falcons. Gentry hit his tenth double of the season, Chay Derbigny added his third triple of the season and Jason Griggs stole his 10th base of the season in other Falcon highlights. BYU had 13 hits in the game. Apana Nakayama led the way for the Cougars, going 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Air Force plays Bethany College 3 p.m. May 2 at Falcon Field.
