Week in Photos features Airmen around the globe

  • Published
The "Week In Photos" Web feature on Air Force Link provides visitors with photos that highlight Air Force missions around the world. Among this week's photos are:

Senior Airman Gil Alicea is silhouetted while doing a phase dock inspection on an F-16 at Balad Air Base, Iraq. Airman Alicea is a crew chief with the 332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron. A phase dock inspection, completed every 400 flying hours, is just one type of maintenance the squadron performs to support Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Another maintainer in the 332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron, Staff Sgt. Justin Johnson, inspects panels on an F-16 for cracks. Sergeant Johnson is deployed from Misawa Air Base, Japan.

An outstanding photo by Tech. Sgt. Cecilio Ricardo features Airmen in Afghanistan performing post-flight checks on a C-130 that just completed a leaflet airdrop mission. Is this photo evidence that Airmen are being stretched too thin? Or maybe it's just a unique moment caught by a photojournalist.

Stateside, Airman 1st Class Travis Davis launches an F-15E Strike Eagle in support of Exercise Green Flag at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Green Flag is a pre-deployment exercise that tests close-air support and mirrors many of the irregular warfare-conditions aircrews encounter while fighting the war on terrorism.

Photos representing these stories are just four of 10 photos highlighted in the "Week in Photos" section.
