Air Force (6-24) split a doubleheader with Hawaii at Hilo (8-24) March 31 at Francis K. Wong Stadium. Hilo took game one, 3-2, and then the Falcons won the second game, 7-0.

Hilo took game one as the Falcons were held to three hits in the seven inning game, while UHH had eight.

Vulcan starter Joe Davis, 1-4, tossed a complete game effort for the win, striking out three and walking two. Air Force starter Mitch Brown, 1-6, took the loss, allowing three runs off six hits in 3 and one-third innings pitched.

Air Force scored a run to start the game, but could not score again until the seventh. Hilo scored all three of its runs in the third inning.

Chay Derbigny, Matt Alexander and Ben Ausbun had the three Falcon hits in game one.

In game two, Jake Petro, 3-4, tossed a four-hit shutout to earn his third win of the season. Petro allowed just four singles over seven innings, striking out three.

The Falcons scored three runs in the first and four more in the second and cruised to the 7-0 win. Vulcan starter Tyler Stafford, 0-2, struggled with his control, allowing six runs on two hits and four walks in one-plus innings of work.

Air Force had seven hits in the second game. Walker, Derbigny and Karl Bolt scored twice for the Falcons.

Air Force returns to action April 5 at home against TCU.
