'Week in Photos' highlights Airmen around the world

Airmen are deployed around the globe every day to support operations ranging from humanitarian missions and coalition exercises to fighting terrorism with airpower.

The "Week In Photos" Web feature on Air Force Link provides visitors photos that feature the Air Force's missions. A brief view of this week's events include the Air Force 60th Anniversary flag being raised at the Air Force memorial, Operation Achilles and Airmen providing humanitarian airlift support to flooded Bolivia.

Tech. Sgt. Cecilo Ricardo captures Airman 1st Class Josh Huffman, a C-130 Hercules loadmaster, dropping a box of 10,000 warning leaflets over the southeastern mountains of Afghanistan March 6. The leaflets were used to communicate with Taliban extremists, warning them not to interfere with coalition activities. The leaflet airdrop mission is contributing to Operation Achilles, launched by the International Security Assistance Force to create an environment that will enable the government of Afghanistan to help improve security and the quality of life for Afghan people. 

At the Air Force Memorial,  two ceremonial Airmen with the Air Force Honor Guard unveil the Air Force 60th Anniversary flag for the first time March 1 in Arlington, Va. The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. T. Michael Moseley and Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynn.

U.S. Southern Command, in cooperation with the U.S. Agency for International Development respond to floods in Bolivia by providing humanitarian supplies on a C-130 Hercules March 4 from Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla.
