Shooting just 28 percent from the field, the Air Force women's basketball team fell to Wyoming, 64-35, Feb. 28 at Arena Auditorium. The Falcons finish the regular season at 5-22 overall, 1-15 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Cowgirls improve to 17-10, 10-4 in the MWC.

Wyoming grabbed the early 3-0 lead and never trailed in the opening half. Although Air Force trailed by just one early in the game, the Falcons shot just 20 percent from the field in the first period and went into the locker room trailing 26-11.

Although Air Force improved its field goal percentage in the second half, the Falcons only fell further behind, as Wyoming drained five baskets from long range after the break. Air Force was also hurt by its turnovers, committing 17 in the game, compared to just seven for the Cowgirls. The Falcons trailed by as many as 31 points before the final 64-35 tally.

Sophomore Brooke Cultra (Onarga, Ill.) scored the Falcons' last four field goals to finish the game with a team-high eight points, while Alecia Steele (Jr., Oklahoma City, Okla.) added seven points and seven rebounds. The Cowgirls had four players scoring in double figures, led by Hanna Zavecz with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

The Falcons unveiled a new patch on their uniforms Feb. 28, honoring Josh Cantrell, the three-year old son of former assistant coach Travis Cantrell. Josh passed away earlier this week after battling a malignant brain tumor.

Next up for Air Force is the Mountain West Conference Championships, being held this year in Las Vegas. The Falcons take on Colorado State in the first game of the tournament, slated for 5 p.m. (PT) March 6.
