Officer reduction in force subject of this week's Roll Call

  • Published
Meeting the Air Force's lower authorized end strength will result in approximately 40,000 active-duty Airmen separating from the service. This week's Roll Call explains one of the ways the Air Force is ensuring it has the right mix of skill sets.

The Air Force needs to maintain its combat capability as numbers are reduced, and the latest step in that process is an officer reduction in force, or RIF.

"It's important to keep in mind what force shaping is all about: the present and future state of the Air Force," said Lt. Gen. Roger Brady, deputy chief of staff for Manpower and Personnel.
