Northern Colorado completed a three-game sweep of Air Force with a 11-4 win over the Falcons in non-conference action Feb. 11 at Falcon Field.

UNC, 5-1, was propelled by four-run innings in the second and eighth innings. The Bears had 15 hits in the game, led by leadoff hitter Zach Brockman, who went 4-for-4 with three doubles. Starter Jason Banks picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out seven.

Air Force was held to seven hits on the day with Jason Griggs and Matt Alexander collecting two hits apiece. Falcon starter Gary Whiteman took the loss in an outing that looked much better than the final numbers indicated. After allowing four runs in the second, Whiteman settled down to allow just one run in the next five innings befire tiring in the eighth.

UNC jumped out to the 4-0 lead but Air Force answered right back in the bottom of the inning with four runs of their own to tie the game up. The Falcons' offense sputtered after the second, however, failing to score the rest of the way.

The Bears took the lead in the fifth with a run and tacked on four more in the eighth and two more in the ninth.

Air Force had another fine day on the basepaths, stealing four bases after swiping five in the previous game.

The Falcons return to action next weekend hosting a four-game homestand with Kansas Wesleyan beginning Feb. 16 at Falcon Field.
