NCO trains allied airmen in Cope Tiger

Airmen have been lending their expertise to train allied airmen from Thailand and Singapore as Exercise Cope Tiger 2007 kicked off Jan. 29 in Southeast Asia.

The multinational exercise covers command post procedures, field training and humanitarian civic service training.

"My job is to perform air refueling with the U.S. and some of our allies as well," said Master Sgt. Mark Sindiong, a KC-135 Stratotanker boom operator who is one of many experienced Airmen participating in the exercise.

The sergeant said he believes the training will be beneficial to the allied nations participating in the exercise.

"It's going to enhance their mission capability," he said. "The air refueling training is going to give them something they don't get very often and hopefully in the future if they have to do refueling, they will have that experience already."

An avid aircraft enthusiast, Sergeant Sindiong also has had the chance to check out some allied jets during the exercise.

"For one who loves aircraft getting to see the Thai F-16 up close is really exciting and certainly makes the job feel well worth it," he said.
