The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept in a Mountain West Conference dual Jan. 26 at the BYU swimming and diving complex. The men's team lost 138-105 while the women lost 153-74.

Senior Chris Knaute led the way for the Falcons, winning the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Knaute won the 500 free by six seconds with a time of 4:31.14. The reigning MWC men's swimmer of the week was even better in the 1,000 free, winning by 12 seconds and setting a new pool record with a time of 9:25.92.

"We swam well tonight but BYU was just better today," men's head coach Rob Clayton said. "We'll look to regroup and come out strong against Utah tomorrow."

The Falcons also got wins by sophomore Bryan Avery in the 200 free (1:41.28) and senior Nick Burton in the 200 individual medley (1:53.67). Senior Brady Lindberg was the Falcons' top diver, taking second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

Senior Blair Leake led the way for the Falcon women, winning the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.03. Sophomore Jane Hwang swam well in 100 free, taking second with a time of 53.33.

The Falcons return to action Jan. 27 against Utah.
