Serving through the season: Airman 1st Class Christina Grable Published Dec. 26, 2006 By MC3 Jason Segedy Air Force Print News YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan (AFPN) -- Not egg nog or deviled eggs. Just the basics. Sizzling eggs mixed with tomatoes and ham. That's how Airman 1st Class Christina Grable celebrated her Christmas, by cooking eggs at the Samurai Cafe here. For Airman Grable, spending the day over the skillet was nothing new; spending Christmas Day over one is just part of her adventure. "It's not so bad," said Airman Grable. "I enjoy working here. The customers are more than just faces to me. I like to get to know each person for who he or she is and make conversation." Thanks to the interaction, Airman Grable says there's nowhere else she would rather be this season. She has only been in the Air Force a couple years and it has helped her mature immensely. "I owe a lot of it to the people here and to the cooking, the fitness and the training. It's really helped me grow," she said. "We're all working together to keep our country safe and build a strong bond with other host countries. "I feel like even though my family is back home, this is a family to me," she said.
