A long-format, weekly news show titled "Today's Air Force" is now available.

The new program, which first aired Oct. 30, was introduced to help tell Air Force stories in a more in-depth manner.

"We have daily news programs, but they don't provide enough time to get deep into a subject and provide specific details to our viewers," said Staff Sgt. Lee E. Hoover Jr., a broadcast producer.

The program is made up of three segments, and each runs approximately eight minutes. Although each can be a stand-alone segment, they are related to form a seamless program. "Today's Air Force" features stories about the Air Force's latest programs, technology, exercises and operations among other subjects.

"Today's Air Force" can be seen every day on The Pentagon Channel and via Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. A robust marketing push has garnered more than 50 cable access channels electing to air the program.

"Air Force News had more than 3,000 outlets that received our Air Force Television News program," said Norma Morgan, an AFNEWS broadcast marketing specialist. "When the program ended a couple of years ago, we had so many stations that were disappointed. Now with this new program the stations are providing very positive feedback."

One cable station production manager was happy to see that AFNEWS has started producing a new program for his viewers.

"Our customers are elated that the Air Force is back," said Ian Richardson, production manager for the Mountain Home Public Access Channel in Idaho.

The program can be obtained either via satellite feed or through a file transfer protocol server.
