Five Falcons notched two victories each to lead the Air Force wrestling team Dec. 2 at the FHSU-Bob Smith Open, hosted by Fort Hays State.

Senior Andrew Teigeler, native of Yorktown, Va., wrestling at 149 pounds, dropped his first round match-up to PCC's Lorenzo Mundy, 14-4, but picked up a 9-6 decision over Pima's Josh Corona in the consolation bracket. Teigeler followed that win up with another 9-6 decision, this time over fourth-seeded Cale Farber, but ended the day with an 8-1 loss to Jimmy Miller of Chadron State.

Freshman Thomas Gorry, native of Stuttgart, Germany, also picked up a pair of wins at 157 pounds, falling to second-seeded Danny Grater of Fort Hays State in the opening round. Gorry responded by recording a fall over teammate Michael Erickson in the consolation bracket, followed by a 5-4 sudden victory over another fellow Falcon, Randall Mitchner. However, Gorry's afternoon ended with a loss to Newman University's Andrew Nash.

Picking up a pair of victories at 165 pounds was freshman Akira Nervik, native of Bellflower, Calif. After dropping an 8-3 decision to fourth-seed Chris Riding of New Mexico Highlands in the opening round, Nervik recorded a fall over NMHU's Anthony Gonzales in a time of 54 seconds. He then notched his second fall of the day, pinning Nebraska-Kearney's Ross McMullen in a time of 3:25 before losing a 7-1 decision to Central Oklahoma's Alvin Metcalf.

Junior A.J. Harris, native of Boise, Idaho, got his day off to a solid start, escaping with a 5-4 decision over Jason Bahmer before dropping an 8-0 decision to Neosho's Jason Green. Harris picked up another win in the consolation bracket, defeating teammate Tyler French, 9-4, but lost a 5-1 decision to Colorado School of Mines' Zac Cornett.

After sophomore Jordan Tribble, native of Midwest City, Okla., began his day with an 11-2 loss to third-seeded Matt Farrell of Nebraska-Kearney, he picked up his first win in the consolation bracket, pinning Jessie Gallagher in a time of 1:55. Tribble then edged out Alex Monegro with a 3-1 decision, before dropping a 9-6 decision to Lars Leuders.

The Falcons begin their dual slate later this week, when they travel to Western State on Dec. 8, before hosting Colorado School of Mines Dec. 9. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
