Academy senior qualifies for Olympic trials

A U.S. Air Force Academy senior qualified for the Olympic trials with a 17th-place finish in the 200 meter individual medley preliminaries Nov. 30 at the 2006 U.S. Open here.

Paul Parmenter swam a time of 2:07.39, which was the exact time needed to qualify.

The Falcons had two more seniors participating in the open. Chris Knaute placed 21st in the 400 freestyle during the finals with a time of 4:03.84. Knaute was 17th following the prelims after swimming an early time of 4:02.33.

Ryan Moss, a West Lafayette native, placed 28th in the 50 free with a time of 24.14.
