Senior Airman Stephen Lloyd reported to duty at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., Nov. 2 following his arrest in connection with the stabbing of three other Airmen Oct. 28 at an off-base bar.

The 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron maintenance technician was released on bail Nov. 1 and faces three counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering, said Capt. Elizabeth Benn, a Malmstrom spokesperson.

"It is important to state that we cannot presume guilt," Captain Benn said.

Malmstrom officials have worked closely with local authorities, and helped position Airman Lloyd so that he could be arrested safely Oct. 30, the captain said.

Air Force agents with the Office of Special Investigations are working with local police in the ongoing investigation of the incident, which involves more people than just the four involved in the stabbing, Captain Benn said.

The three victims -- a senior airman and two airmen 1st class -- are assigned to the 341st Missile Security Forces Squadron and were discharged from the local hospital Oct. 29.

After the arrest, Malmstrom officials made a request for jurisdiction in the case. While a routine legal action, case jurisdiction will not be determined until after the investigation is complete, Captain Benn said.

Base officials have banned base Airmen from the bar before. The last ban was lifted in February 2005 after the owners had taken measures to ensure fights and alcohol-related incidents didn't happen again, Captain Benn said.

"Base leaders were happy with the changes [when the ban was lifted]," she said.

Since the last ban, only minor incidents have occurred at the bar, the captain said. Base officials have not made any decision to place another ban on the bar.

"Malmstrom leaders are confident in our Airmen to make the right decisions," Captain Benn said.
