Fairchild unit saves woman in Idaho

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. (AFPN) --  A woman missing in the Harvard, Idaho, area since the afternoon of Oct. 24 was found Oct. 25 by the 36th Rescue Flight here. 

The Latah County Sheriff's Office requested the Air Force's help early on Oct. 25, said Capt. Kevin Burns, a pilot with the 36th RQF. 

A UH-1N Huey helicopter took off from Fairchild at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 for the trip to the Harvard area. The crew located the woman and transported her to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. 

"We train with local sheriffs departments and search and rescue teams," said Maj. Brian Bell, the 36th RQF commander and mission pilot. "Through this relationship they know we are an asset they can utilize in a time of need." 

The rescue mission was flown by Major Bell and 1st Lt. Duke Warner. Senior Airman Jacob Bragg served as flight engineer and Tech. Sgt. John Parish was the duty medic on board.

This was the 609th save by the 36th RQF, which was activated in 1971. The flight is part of the 336th Training Group here.
