Air Force stumbles at Wyoming, 3-1

Tamika Wilson's two goals boosted Wyoming to a 3-1 win over Air Force in Mountain West Conference women's soccer action this morning at the UW Soccer Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 3-8-3, 0-1-1.

The Cowgirls improved to 6-5-1, 1-0-1.

Wyoming took the lead in the game just three minutes in, as Corey Thieman scored off Emily Layton's corner kick. Air Force came right back in the 11th minute though, as Alison Wood netted her first goal of the season from a free kick about 40 yards out. Rachael Emory and Brittney Perkowski were credited with assists.

Wilson then put the Cowgirls back ahead with a goal in the 28th minute, again off a corner kick from Emily Layton. Wilson later notched her second goal of the day, this one coming in the 65th minute, off a pass from Christine Nagel to make it a 3-1 game.

Air Force out-shot Wyoming 21-16 and 11-6 on shots on goal. Katherine Taylor and Ashley Collins both had four shots, two on goal for the Falcons. Erin Wallace had three saves at goalkeeper for AFA.

The Falcons return to action at home against Utah this Wednesday night, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. back at the Cadet Soccer Stadium.
