The U.S. Air Force Academy women's soccer team improved its record to 3-7-2 with two wins this weekend over Stephen F. Austin and Sacramento State.

The Falcons won for the second time in a row Sept. 24, defeating Stephen F. Austin 1-0 at the Cadet Soccer Stadium.

The game-winning goal came in the 48th minute from freshman Jessica Yahn. Yahn took a corner kick from Rachael Emory and headed the ball in through SFA keeper Jessica Cotton's hands for the score.

The Falcons dominated the entire match, setting a school record with 14 corner kicks. Air Force also out-shot SFA 13-6.

Sophomore Erin Wallace earned her second consecutive shutout with four saves in front of the net for the Falcons. Wallace has not allowed a goal during regulation in her last 382:06 minutes, spanning four games.

The loss by SFA drops its record to 4-5-0.

The women's soccer team got its first home win of the season a day earlier, downing Sacramento State 1-0 at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The loss by Sacramento State drops the Hornets to 5-4-0.

The game-winning goal came in the 42nd minute from sophomore Kimberly Hale. Hale booted a long shot from midfield that deflected off a Sacramento State player and bounded into the box. The ball took a big bounce off the slick grass and over Hornet keeper Mandy Trojan, trickling in before she could get back to the ball.

After out-shooting Sacramento State 8-3 in the first half, the Falcons withstood a late barrage of shots by the Hornets. The Hornets out-shot the Falcons 12-1 in the second half, but the academy defense was able to come out with the win.

Wallace picked up the win with seven solid saves in front of the net for the Falcons. Trojan took the loss for the Hornets with two saves in 45 minutes.

The Air Force academy returns to action Oct. 6, opening Mountain West Conference play at San Diego State.
