Falcons complete Tucker Invitational

After the final round of play Sept. 23, the U.S. Air Force Academy golf team finished in 20th place at the William H. Tucker Invitational.

Taking place at the 7,354-yard, par-72 University of New Mexico Championship Course, the host team captured the title, firing a three-round total of 874 and finishing one stroke ahead of second-place Brigham Young University. Meanwhile, the UNM Lobos' Charlie Beljan won medalist honors, finishing with a six-under-par 210, a stroke ahead of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas' Jared Texter.

Leading the way for Air Force on the weekend was senior Tyler Goulding of Tracy, Calif., who finished tied for 23rd overall with a three-round score of 222. Freshman Tom Whitney of La Quinta, Calif., tied for 84th at 233.

Rounding out the group for Air Force were senior Chad Follett of El Paso, Texas, at 236; junior Bob Whitney of La Quinta at 238; and sophomore Shaun O'Bryant from Colorado Springs, Colo., at 250. The Air Force players combined for rounds of 310, 311 and 307 for a team total of 928.

The Falcons return to action Oct. 2 to 3 when they travel to Reno, Nev., to take part in the Wolf Pack Invitational.
