Airmen return home from Operation Iraqi Freedom

More than 180 Airmen returned home to Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Sept. 23 from their deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

While deployed the men and women of the 728th Air Control Squadron controlled and monitored Iraqi airspace, assisted close air support missions and directed tanker aircraft refueling missions.

According to base officials, some of the accomplishments of these Airmen include controlling more than 24,000 aircraft sorties and supporting more than 7,000 convoy operations.
