"If you can sing, dance or play a musical instrument," said Tom Edwards, chief of Air Force Entertainment and Tops In Blue, "you should apply for the Worldwide Talent Contest. Time is running out."

The Worldwide Talent Contest deadline for applications is Oct. 2. The actual competition will begin Nov. 5 and last until Nov. 13 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The theme for this year's competition is "Perform your duty."

"If you're eager to share your talents, willing to learn a wide variety of new skills, work in a strong teamwork environment and experience a worldwide tour for nine months -- in other words, if you're interested in being a part of the 'Best of the Best' -- then you should apply to compete in the Worldwide Talent Contest," Mr. Edwards said.

Tops In Blue, the Air Force's expeditionary entertainment unit, is composed of active duty Airmen on a permissive temporary duty assignment. Team members are selected through the Air Force Worldwide Talent Contest. For performers there are five categories: male vocalist, female vocalist, instrumentalist, musical variety and non-musical variety, which could include comedians, magicians or dramatists.

Technicians, operations and other support personnel are also in demand. They could be drivers; stage, light and sound technicians; wardrobe and costume coordinators; operations staff; choreographers or vocal assistants.

To apply, contact Air Force Entertainment at DSN 487-6566 or visit www.topsinblue.com for an application kit.
