Randolph officer found guilty in court-martial Published Aug. 10, 2006 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- An Air Force officer was tried and found guilty in a general court-martial at the Randolph Air Force Base federal courtroom at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 9. Lt. Col. Christopher T. Kugel was charged with dereliction of duty and conduct unbecoming an officer after he admitted to having affairs with several workers on base. Colonel Kugel chose to be tried by military judge alone, waiving his right to be judged by a panel of his peers. Colonel Kugel pleaded guilty to dereliction of duty and to misusing his government computer by sending numerous sexually explicit messages during the course of those affairs. Military Judge, Col. William Burd presided over the court-martial. After hearing from witnesses and attorneys on both sides, the judge sentenced Colonel Kugel, to a reprimand and dismissal from the United States Air Force. Colonel Kugel was assigned as the deputy mission support group commander for the 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. He had served more than 19 years in the Air Force.
