The Air Force Academy women's basketball team wrapped up its four-game Canadian tour with a 72-70 win over Simon Fraser Sunday afternoon at SFU's West Gym. With just 2.1 seconds remaining in regulation, junior Pamela Findlay of Glenview, Ill., drained a pair of free throws to give the Falcons the victory.

Simon Fraser rolled out to an early 8-2 lead, but after battling back in the opening period, Air Force was able to cut it close, even taking a one-point lead. After a buzzer beater at the end of the first quarter gave the Clan a 19-18 advantage going into the second period, SFU began to pull away in the second period, draining four three-point shots in the quarter.

Leading 46-38 at the half, Simon Fraser increased its lead to 59-49 in the third quarter and appeared to be on its way to the win. However, the Falcons closed the period on a 9-2 run, and after scoring six of the first eight points in the final period, Air Force was again leading, 64-63. Though the Clan responded with another basket to regain the lead, the Falcons rattled off six straight points to gain the 70-65 lead.

The contest was far from over, as a three-point play and a pair of free throws tied the game for Simon Fraser, but Findlay's foul shots at the end of the contest helped the Falcons grab the win.

Air Force was solid from the free-throw line in the contest, knocking down 12-of-14 shots from the charity stripe, while SFU was 19-of-25 from the line. The Clan also had a huge advantage from long range, hitting seven three-pointers in the contest.

Findlay finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while junior Alecia Steele of Oklahoma City added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double-figures was senior Jacki Novak of Kewaunee, Wis., with 10 points.

The Falcons return home this week for the beginning of the fall semester and will return to action with a season-opening exhibition on Oct. 31 versus Colorado School of Mines.
