AFSOC making a difference in war on terror

His people are making a difference in the war on terror, the leader of the Air Force's special operations troops told members of Congress on Capitol Hill.

These Airmen are taking the fight to the enemy every night and in the spirit of their stealthy mission, it's a fight that goes unnoticed by the media, said Lt. Gen. Michael W. Wooley, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command.

However, knowing they are making a difference keeps the men and women of AFSOC focused and motivated, he said.

"The long deployments to austere locations are hard, but the knowledge that they're helping people who cannot stand alone against terror and tyranny, they're helping protecting our country from its enemies -- those thoughts keep our Airmen and their families focused and will to place service before self," he said.
