CENTAF releases combined airpower summary report

U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials released the airpower summary report for April 22 through today.

April 24
Coalition aircraft flew 52 close-air-support missions April 23 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and Royal Air Force GR-4 Tornadoes provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Mahmudiyah and Samarra.

In addition, 15 Air Force, Navy, Royal Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Air Force and Navy fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 28 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Royal Air Force GR-7 Harriers provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Tarin Kowt.

Eight Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 175 airlift sorties, delivered 390 tons of cargo and transported 2,776 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia and Canada flew in support of either OIF or OEF.
 
On April 22, Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 38 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.6 million pounds of fuel.

April 23
Coalition aircraft flew 50 close-air-support missions April 22 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-15 Eagles and Navy F/A-18 Hornets provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Bayji and Ramadi.

In addition, 15 Air Force, Navy and Royal Australian Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq . Also, Air Force and Navy fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 20 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Air Force B-52 Stratofortresses and Royal Air Force GR-7s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Oruzgan and Kandahar .

Five Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan .

Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 170 airlift sorties, delivered 325 tons of cargo and transported 2,205 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Canada, Japan and South Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On April 21, Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 32 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.5 million pounds of fuel.

April 22
Coalition aircraft flew 58 close-air-support missions April 21 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-15s and Navy F/A-18s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Fathah, Al Iskandariyah, Al Mahmudiyah, Balad and Baquba.

In addition, 16 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Navy fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 20 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Six Air Force and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 200 airlift sorties, delivered 470 tons of cargo and transported 2,230 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Japan flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On April 20, Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 26 sorties and off-loaded almost 1.9 million pounds of fuel.
