Three Air Force members receive GEICO awards

The Government Employees Insurance Company selected two Airmen and one Air Force civilian as 2005 GEICO award winners.

For 18 years, GEICO has recognized servicemembers from all branches of the service, including Guard and Reserve, for work in drug- and alcohol-abuse prevention, fire safety and prevention, traffic safety and accident prevention.

Tech. Sgt. Shannon Anderson of the 347th Civil Engineer Squadron at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., received the GEICO Military Service Award in the fire prevention and fire safety category.

Tech. Sgt. Anita Garcia of the 433rd Aerospace Medicine Squadron at Lackland AFB, Texas, earned the GEICO Military Service Award as a National Guard/Reserve component recipient in the drug and alcohol abuse prevention category.

Jason Sexton from Tinker AFB, Okla., won a GEICO Public Service Award in the fire prevention and safety category.

Mr. Sexton will be honored during a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on April 10. Sergeants Anderson and Garcia will be honored during a ceremony in Washington on April 24. All winners will receive plaques and cash honorariums from GEICO.
