Silver Flag prepares Airmen to deploy Published March 30, 2006 SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) -- Airmen throughout U.S. Air Forces in Europe recently learned skills and received training across the spectrum of predeployment, deployment and post-deployment in a bare-base environment during Exercise Silver Flag. Silver Flag prepares USAFE’s combat support troops for real-world deployments through world-class, realistic expeditionary combat support training. The exercise integrates Airmen from 22 functional tracks, including civil engineering, services, communications, logistics readiness, personnel, finance, contracting, public affairs, chapel, legal and explosive ordnance disposal. Senior Master Sgt. Leslie Jones, contingency training superintendent, said many of the Airmen have never deployed, and the feedback from the participants has been positive. “A lot of them have never experienced anything like this and they walk away with a better understanding of what’s going to happen when they go downrange,” he said. Silver Flag is held at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, seven to eight times each year, training about 1,400 Airmen annually.
