CENTAF releases combined airpower summary report

U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials released the airpower summary report for March 11 to 13.

Coalition aircraft flew 54 close air support missions March 12 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities. 

Air Force F-15 Eagles and Navy F/A-18 Hornets provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces in the vicinities of Al Miqdadiyah, Ramadi and Tikrit.

In addition, 12 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions supporting operations in Iraq. Also, a Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with its electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 22 close air support missions supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

An Air Force B-52 Stratofortress provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Deh Rawood. The B-52 expended precision-guided munitions against an enemy position.

An Air Force B-52, A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and RC-135 provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Asadabad.

Five Air Force and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions supporting operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 180 airlift sorties, delivered 480 tons of cargo and transported 4,330 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On March 11 Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 27 sorties and unloaded more than 2 million pounds of fuel.

Coalition aircraft flew 46 close air support missions March 11 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. They included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities, and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Navy F/A-18s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Hawijah, Balad and Tikrit. 

Coalition aircraft flew 46 close air support missions March 11 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. They included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities. 

Navy F/A-18s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Hawijah, Balad and Tikrit.

In addition, 16 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions supporting operations in Iraq.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 22 close air support missions supporting OEF. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Four Air Force and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions supporting operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 175 airlift sorties, delivered 420 tons of cargo and transported 3,470 passengers. 

Coalition C-130 crews from Japan and South Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF. 

On March 10 Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 32 sorties and unloaded more than 2.4 million pounds of fuel.

Coalition aircraft flew 56 close air support missions March 10 for OIF. They included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities. 

Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and F-15s, Navy F/A-18s, and Royal Air Force GR-4s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Amarah, Al Taji, Baghdad, Balad, Salman Pak and Tikrit.

In addition, 11 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions supporting operations in Iraq.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 19 close air support missions supporting OEF. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities, and route patrols. 

Air Force A-10s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Deh Rawood and Kandahar.

Three Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. 

Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 160 airlift sorties, delivered 240 tons of cargo and transported 3,400 passengers. This included approximately 17 thousand pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in central Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and South Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On March 9 Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 36 sorties and unloaded more than 2.5 million pounds of fuel.
