Camera crews from the Air Force’s advertising agency began filming a new Air Force recruiting commercial here Feb. 13.

The theme is “Do something amazing.” The ads will be aired nationwide on television and Web sites.

“We’re going to show all of the amazing things Air Force people do,” said Lee Pilz, account director for the agency, GSD&M.

The nine-person crew filmed Airmen in action, including the 437th Aerial Port Squadron and a C-17 Globemaster III crew participating in an aerial refueling and conducting an airdrop of an Army Howitzer.

For Capt. Jeremy Reich, participating in the commercial was a rewarding experience.

“This was a really great experience. It’s rare that aircrew have the opportunity to share with others what we do. It’s rewarding to share this with the public and for the commercial crew to take what they have filmed and share it with everyone else,” said Captain Reich, an aircraft commander with the 14th Airlift Squadron.

Film crewmembers said they were impressed with the base.

“We’ve been impressed by the many C-17s here,” Mr. Pilz said. “We know the Air Force has a job to do. The cooperation from the base has been terrific in getting everything we need.”

The ads will target young adults, 16 to 24 years old, which is why the Air Force is also using the Web to reach this audience.

“We want to be able to create a link between online and television since our target audience is also online,” Mr. Pilz said. “We’re trying to capture all the interesting jobs that kids don’t think about.”

More filming for the campaign is scheduled at Hurlburt Field, Fla.
