SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials released the airpower summary for Jan. 28 to 30.
Coalition aircraft flew 56 close-air-support missions Jan. 29 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. They included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.
Navy F/A-18 Hornets and F-14 Tomcats provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Balad. The aircraft expended one precision-guided munition against an enemy position.
Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and Navy F/A-18s and F-14s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Iskandariyah, Balad and Ramadi.
In addition, 16 Air Force and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Air Force fighter aircraft flew in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.
In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 14 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence route patrols.
Five Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.
Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 180 airlift sorties, delivered 300 tons of cargo, transported 4,145 passengers and air-dropped 44,350 pounds of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
Coalition C-130 crews from Australia and Canada flew in support of either OIF or OEF.
On Jan. 28 Air Force and RAF tankers flew 36 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.5 million pounds of fuel.

Air Force Fighting Falcons and F-15 Eagles and Navy Hornets and Tomcats provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Taji, Baghdad, Balad, Bayji, Mosul and Tikrit.
In addition, 12 Air Force and RAF ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. An Air Force fighter aircraft flew in a non-traditional ISR role with its electro-optical and infrared sensors.
In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew two close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence route patrols.
An Air Force B-52 Stratofortress provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Orgun-E. The B-52 expended two precision-guided munitions against enemy firing positions with successful effects.
Four Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.
Air Force Hercules and Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 175 airlift sorties, delivered 405 tons of cargo and transported 2,820 passengers.

On Jan. 27 Air Force and RAF tankers flew 33 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.2 million pounds of fuel.

Air Force F-16s, F-15s and Navy F/A-18s and F-14s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Balad, Bayji, Mosul, Salman Pak and Samarra.
In addition, 14 Air Force and RAF ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. An Air Force fighter aircraft flew in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.
In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 20 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence route patrols.
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close air support to coalition forces in contact with enemy troops near Asadabad.
Four Air Force and a RAF ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

They flew 190 airlift sorties, delivered 370 tons of cargo, transported 3,475 passengers and air-dropped 34,150 pounds of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
