Nine Airmen from McChord Air Force Base, Wash., will be featured in a national promo for the National Football League’s Monday Night Football on ABC television today.

Monday night promos are aired before each game and are watched by more than 20 million people each week. The promos normally feature a celebrity or NFL star who introduces that week’s game.

McChord Airmen will share the spotlight with Seattle Seahawks’ running back Shaun Alexander. They march in formation and call cadence as part of the production filmed at Qwest Field in Seattle.

For a few of the Airmen, the excitement of being in a national plug was overshadowed by the opportunity to interact with their favorite football team.

“I’m a super fan of the Seahawks,” said Staff Sgt. Rachel Stanchak, 62nd Mission Support Squadron. “I don’t miss a game -- I haven’t missed a game this season. My husband is so jealous I got to do this.”

During the filming, the Airmen learned what actually happens behind the scenes of a major network production and had one-on-one interaction with Mr. Alexander.

“After the filming, (Mr. Alexander) took the time to autograph the items we brought and talk to us,” said 1st Lt. Ryan Alvey, 7th Airlift Squadron.

Viewers can catch McChord’s Airmen marching proudly in the promo before the 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time kickoff today.
