Kadena Airman convicted for possessing child pornography

A military court martial convicted an Airman here today of possessing child pornography.

A military judge then sentenced Senior Airman Jason O. Green, of the 353rd Maintenance Squadron, to 20 months confinement, reduction to airman basic and a dishonorable discharge.

But as the result of a pretrial agreement between the government and the Airman, the maximum sentence that may be approved is 18 months confinement, reduction to airman basic, forfeiture of pay and a bad conduct discharge.

Airman Green said he used an Internet file-sharing program and numerous Web sites, to download more than 900 images and 10 movies. They all containing underage girls engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Officials arrested the Airman after they discovered he used a friend’s personal computer to download images. The friend subsequently reported Airman Green to authorities.

“People need to realize that this is not a victimless crime,” said Capt. Brian Jones, trial counsel for the case. “These are faces of real children who have been traumatized and abused and forever have to live with pain, humiliation and shame.”

Captain Jones said, “Anyone who feeds into the cycle of this sick and vicious industry does not deserve the respect and honor that comes with wearing the Air Force uniform.”

Airman Green is serving his punishment at the nearby Camp Hansen Brig.
