Officials at U.S. Central Command Air Forces released today's airpower summary report.

Coalition aircraft flew 58 close air support and armed reconnaissance sorties Nov. 9 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities, and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Coalition aircraft also supported Iraqi and coalition ground forces operations to create a secure environment for ongoing Transitional National Assembly meetings.

Navy F/A-18 Hornets provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces in the vicinity of Al Ramadi.

In addition, seven Air Force and Navy Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Royal Air Force fighter aircraft flew in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 18 close air support and armed reconnaissance sorties in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and the conduct of presence route patrols.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs flew a successful air strike in the vicinity of Deh Rawood. The A-10s dropped general-purpose 500-pound bombs, and they fired rockets and cannon rounds against anti-coalition forces on a hillside.

Air Force A-10s and a B-52 Stratofortress provided close air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces in the vicinities of Asadabad and Tarin Kowt.

In addition, four Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew about 160 airlift sorties, delivered more than 300 tons of cargo and  transported some 2,500 passengers. This included approximately 16,500 pounds of troop re-supply, which was air-dropped in eastern Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, and the Republic of Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On Nov. 8, Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 37 sorties and off-loaded nearly 2.5 million pounds of fuel.
