Department of Defense officials have extended the waiver of pharmacy co-pays through Sept. 30 for Tricare beneficiaries affected by Hurricane Katrina unable to pay it.

In addition, Tricare officials have been working closely with retail pharmacies and their pharmacy contractor to ensure that military evacuees maintain access to their prescription benefits.

For example, beneficiaries displaced by the hurricane may request their prescription records at military treatment facilities in the Gulf Coast be transferred to other military or retail pharmacies nationwide.

For assistance, hurricane victims may call the DOD pharmacy operations center at (866) 275-4732. (Courtesy of Tricare Management Activity)
