AF clarifies hurricane evacuation entitlements

Air Force officials want to ensure Airmen, their families and Department of Defense civilian employees evacuated during Hurricane Katrina are aware they may be eligible for certain entitlements.

Eligible people may be entitled to limited evacuation allowances and expenses for lodging, transportation, meals and incidentals.

The allowances can be viewed by visiting the Air Force Personnel Center's Personnel Readiness Web site by going online to www.afpc.randolph.af.mil and choosing the “military” tab, then the “readiness” tab and clicking on the “readiness support” link. Once there, Airmen can click on links outlining Hurricane Katrina entitlements.

For current information on the status of Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., Airmen, DOD civilians and family members can call AFPC's Personnel Readiness Center toll free at (800) 435-9941, or visit the Keesler Web site at www.keesler.af.mil. (Courtesy of AFPC News Service)
