Officials announce 2005 awards for air mobility excellence

Air Mobility Command officials recently announced this year's Airlift/Tanker Association award winners.

Each year, the association recognizes individuals who have demonstrated superior leadership, made outstanding contributions to the airlift/tanker mission, and provided invaluable service to their civilian communities. These Airmen will be recognized during the association’s annual convention in Nashville, Tenn., in October.

The 2005 winners of the Young Leadership Award are:

-- Capt. John Coy of the 86th Operations Support Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

-- Capt. Michael Curry of the 16th Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

-- Capt. Kenneth Gjone of the 314th Operations Group at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark.

-- Capt. Matthew Husemann of the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover AFB, Del.

-- Capt. Aaron Larose of the Tanker Airlift Control Center here.

-- Maj. Benjamin Spencer of the 51st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Osan AB, South Korea.

-- Tech. Sgt. John Bilberry of the 314th Maintenance Group at Little Rock.

-- Tech. Sgt. Harry Brown of the 37th Airlift Squadron at Ramstein.

-- Tech. Sgt. Rodney Morrision of the 1st Special Operations Squadron at Kadena AB, Japan.

-- Tech. Sgt. Johnny White of the 63rd Air Refueling Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich.

-- Staff Sgt. Joshua Caron of the 18th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Kadena.

-- Staff Sgt. Kevin Kay of the 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Holloman AFB, N.M.

The 2005 winners of the General Robert "Dutch" Huyser Award are:

-- Pilot: Maj. Michael Jackson of the 14th Weapons Squadron at Hurlburt Field.

-- Navigator: Maj. Charles Bolton of the 43rd OSS at Pope AFB, N.C.

-- Flight engineer: Master Sgt. Brian Johnson of the 19th SOS at Hurlburt Field.

-- Loadmaster: Master Sgt. Brandon Broughman of the 43rd OG at Pope.

-- Boom Operator: Staff Sgt. James Guldjord of the 350th ARS at McConnell AFB, Kan.

The 2005 winner of the General P.K. Carlton Award for Valor is Maj. David Millsapps of the 8th SOS at Eglin AFB, Fla.

The 2005 winner of the Colonel Gail Halvorsen Award is Master Sgt. Carl Lane Jr. of the 18th LRS at Kadena. (Courtesy of AMC News Service)
