Air Force women’s soccer season kicks off

A school-record 13 home games highlight the 2005 Air Force women’s soccer schedule when the Falcons open their season Aug. 26 at the University of Northern Colorado.

The Falcons play eight nonconference home games and will hold the Nike Invitational here Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. The nonconference slate includes matches against the University of Iowa on Aug. 28, Providence University on Sept. 2, Central Michigan University on Sept. 4, Colorado College on Sept. 21, St. Mary’s College on Sept. 23 and the University of California-Davis on Sept. 25. Air Force ends its 2005 nonconference during invitational play against Idaho State University on Sept. 30 and Wright State University on Oct. 2.

Air Force plays five home Mountain West Conference home games this season. They play the University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Oct. 7, San Diego State University on Oct. 9, Texas Christian University on Sept. 21, University of New Mexico on Oct. 23 and University of Wyoming on Oct. 28.

The Falcons play seven matches on the road in 2005, including stops at the Montana Tournament held Sept. 9 to 11 in Missoula, Mont., and at the Toys for Tots Tournament in St. Louis from Sept. 16 to 18. After opening the season against the UNC Bears, the Falcons will tackle a Sept. 11 double-header against Utah State University and Boise State University in Missoula, followed by Army on Sept. 16 and St. Louis on Sept. 18.

The Falcons play just two conference matches on the road, taking on Brigham Young University on Oct. 13 and Utah on Oct. 15. They will also participate in the 2005 MWC Women’s Soccer Championships held Nov. 2 to 5 in Las Vegas.
